Essays & Short Stories Medium Books Original Content

Gail Gauthier is an essayist and short story writer whose work has appeared in Stonecoast Review, Literary Mama, Bending Genres, and The Millions, among other places. Her eight books for children were published by G. P. Putnam’s Sons and include an ALA Notable Book and two Junior Library Guild selections. She also writes short-form humor published at on-line sites on Medium.

She is originally from Vermont, the setting of two of her books, and now lives in southern New England. No, she didn’t go far. She comes from a family of kitchen employees and spent three college summers working in one herself. This definitely explains why food and eating frequently appear in her writing, whether fiction or nonfiction.

Nonwriting interests right now include reading history, native plants, and studying French. Any of these things could turn up in future writing. Probably not French, though. Son français est très mauvais.
