All Things Picture Book
Booklights, a new children's book blog at PBS Parents, opens with lots of discussion of picture books.
Author Paula Yoo is establishing National Picture Book Writing Week, which will be coming up May 1 through 7. She's shooting for 7 picture books in 7 days.
I'm wondering if just anyone can start up a national week, and, if so, what kind of national week I'd like to set up. I will probably be dwelling on this for months, if not years.

Good Lord. This reminds me of an autobiography Cynthia Rylant once published for kids, which was all about My Day, and how she would go out to her garden after breakfast with a legal pad and sit down in a chair "and before I knew it, I had written another picture book!"
I admire the discipline they're shooting for with this thing, but it also reminds me of that Zenny martial arts story about the guy who went to a master and said, "If I train with you and work really hard, how long will it take me to learn everything you know?" and he's told ten years. "That's too long. How long if I work harder than everyone else?" The master tells him thirty years. "I'll do anything to master this art as fast as possible." And he's told that in that case it will take fifty years because rushing is so counterproductive.
